Last Wednesday I hit up Tim KO's open mic at Mick Morgans in Newton. Tim has been running this open mic and others for years now. I brought my electric guitar and met up with Harmonica player Ethan Miller and percussionist Darin Mclean. Tim is always accommodating! Next up we heard some great originals from Ken Carter, who fronts the band Cold Car!
My buddies convinced me to go to the Summerland tour at the House of Blues and I'm glad they did! We watched Sponge, Lit, Everclear and Sugar Ray rock out with their hit songs and a few new ones. They all sounded great even after all those years of punk rock. Third Eye Blind wasn't on the bill, but when they piped in Semi Charmed life between acts everyone sang along! Dinner before at Boston Beer Works was good.
A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I went to Toad in Cambridge for the first time! We listened to Tim Mann perform his original songs. He had a great american roots acoustic style. We had dinner before at Christopher's Restaurant next door where we got buffalo cauliflower!
I'm starting a blog about local music! I'll post once or twice a week about the cool bars I've been too where I got to listen to local performers.
